August 15, 2005The Fair TaxBoortz has a book out, #1 NYT best seller non-fiction The FairTax Book. The Fair Tax is a not a novel idea and as legislation cannot hope to repeal the 16th Amendment. Hopefully, however, those paleo-libs who disparage the Fair Tax (and school-vouchers, among other reform proposals) will realize that it is movement in a better direction. It is also possible that Americans will, after a few years without it, be ready to repeal the 16th Amendment, but that all depends on whether they can first get a taste of life without April 15th. Objections to making private enterprise the tax collecter for the welfare state are duly noted, but we've got to start somewhere and there isn't a single uber libertarian-principled proposal out there that will gain popular support. This one just might. I urge anyone who is considering buying the book, to spend an extra chunk of change and buy it for a $50.00 contribution to Americans for Fair Taxation.
